Solar in Alabama & Georgia — From the Roofers Who Build the Roof
The only contractor in the Alabama-Georgia corridor offering roofing AND solar from one crew. Residential, commercial, battery storage, and detach-and-reset. 30% federal tax credit guidance included.
// The One-Contractor Advantage
Roof and solar.
One crew. One warranty.
Most homeowners doing solar end up hiring two different contractors — a roofer first, then a solar company. That’s two project managers to coordinate, two warranties that can finger-point each other when something leaks, and two crews on your roof.
FCRS is the only contractor in the AL-GA corridor doing both. New roof and solar in the same project? We tear off, install Atlas Pro shingles, and mount the panels in one continuous job. Existing roof in good shape? We just install solar. Existing roof needs replacement first? We can stage it correctly so the panels never have to come off and back on.
// What We Install
Four solar offerings.
01 — Residential
Residential Solar
Tier-1 monocrystalline panels. Inverters from Enphase or SolarEdge. Designed around your actual usage and the AL/GA sun hours. Net-metered with Alabama Power, Georgia Power, and most rural co-ops.
02 — Commercial
Commercial Solar
25–500kW systems for warehouses, retail, schools, churches, and ag operations. Ballasted or attached. Designed for ROI inside 7 years with the federal tax credit.
03 — Storage
Battery Storage
Tesla Powerwall and Enphase IQ Battery installs. Whole-home backup, peak-shaving, and resilience during outages. Add to existing solar or include in new system.
04 — Detach & Reset
Solar Detach & Reset
Got existing panels and need a roof replacement? We carefully detach panels, replace the roof, and reset the array. Most solar installers won’t touch this. We do it weekly.
// 30% Federal Tax Credit
Get back 30% from the IRS.
The federal Residential Clean Energy Credit (formerly the ITC) gives you back 30% of your solar installation cost as a dollar-for-dollar credit on your federal taxes. A $30,000 system becomes $21,000 after the credit. Battery storage qualifies. Roof work directly tied to the solar install (decking repair, structural reinforcement) often qualifies too. We provide the documentation your CPA needs at the end of the year. This is general info, not tax advice — confirm with your tax pro.
// Frequently Asked
Solar, answered.
Does solar damage my roof?
Done right, no. Done by a sloppy installer who skips proper flashing, yes. Because we’re roofers first, every penetration is sealed the way roofers seal penetrations — with proper underlayment, lead boots, and ice & water shield. Most solar-only companies do not.
How much does residential solar cost in Alabama or Georgia?
A typical 8–10 kW residential system runs $22,000–$32,000 before the 30% federal credit. After the credit: $15,400–$22,400. Most homeowners break even in 8–12 years and the panels keep producing for 25+. Battery storage adds $10,000–$18,000.
Will my roof support solar panels?
99% of residential roofs in Alabama and Georgia can. We do a structural assessment as part of every quote. If the roof needs reinforcement we’ll tell you upfront. If the roof is over 15 years old, replacing it before solar install almost always pays off long-term.
What about Alabama Power and Georgia Power?
Both utilities allow grid-tied solar. We handle the interconnection paperwork, the inspection, and the meter swap with the utility. Net-metering policies vary — we’ll model your specific savings during the quote.
Do you offer solar financing?
Yes — solar loans through our financing partners with rates starting around 5.99% and terms up to 25 years. Most clients structure the loan so the monthly payment is less than what they were paying for power. See financing.
